Professor Max Fratoni to be awarded ANS Early Career Award

NE Graduate Student Kathy Shield creates online calculator to estimate House tax plan increases for grad students

Nuclear Engineering Department Graduate Student, Kathy Shield, along with Vetri Velan, a physics graduate student, has created an online calculator to help grad students understand how their taxes will increase should the House tax bill become law.  Under the proposed plan, tuition paid on behalf of a student will become taxable income.  While each student has a unique funding situation, this calculator can help students from all institutions calculate the potential impact to their f

 


Graduate Student David Frazer Receives Silver Award from MRS

Berkeley Nuclear Engineering Student, David Frazer, was awarded a Silver Award at the Materials Research Society Meeting, November 26 - December 1, in Boston, Massachusetts.   The Silver Award honors students whose academic achievements and current materials research displays a high level of excellence and distinction.  These students show promise for future achievement in materials research.  Congratulations David!

 


Professor Peter Hosemann Elected as Chair of NSUF User Organization

Associate Professor Peter Hosemann was elected to be chair for the Nuclear Science User Facility (NSUF) User Organization. In that role he will be the liaison between the NSUF users and facilitiies and the NSUF management.

 


Grad Student Margo Batie award 1st Place for Presentation at NSBP Conference

Nuclear Engineering Graduate Student, Margo Batie, has been awarded first place in the Student Oral Presentations category at the National Society of Black Physicists 2017 National Conference, November 3-5, 2017 in Atlanta, GA.  Margo's presentation was entitled, "Room Temperature Fetal Magnetocardiography Using Optically Pumped Magnetometers".
